  • Boss Time Attack

Successfully completed the game. Do not have all Emeralds but have a Golden Ring in all stages (Act 1, 2, 3 and vs. Boss).

  • Defeat Hagman's Big Hammer

Use flying fox to deafeat the Hammer. Go close but not too close and hit the HAMMER. Do not get too close or you will get electrocuted!

  • Defeating Eggman

Play as Knuckles and Tails. Have Knuckles as your lead and when you face Eggman, use Knuckles' glide. Having Tails as your partner will give Knuckles more elevation on his glide, allowing you to hit Eggman's weak spot without any elevation help from the hands or the balls that fly around.

  • GBA Color Scheme

On the main menu, press the R button to cycle through the different color schemes based on past GBA consoles.

  • Knuckeles: Double Jump

  • Play As Amy

Start a new game and successfully complete all three Acts of Toy Kingdom Zone to unlock Amy.

  • Play As Cream

Start a new game and successfully complete all three Acts of Cyber Track Zone to unlock Cream.

  • Play As Knuckles

Start a new game and successfully complete all three Acts of Sunset Hill Zone to unlock Knuckles.

  • Screen Settings

At the title screen press R to change the screen settings. The original setting is for GBA, LCD 2 is for GBA SP, and LCD 3 is for playing the game on a TV.

  • Secret Stage Mode

After complete all seven special stages, return to the main menu and press Up, L, Down, R, Right, Left.

  • Short-cut for Zone:4 Act:2

  • Sonic The Hedgehog Reference

In Zone 2, Sunset Hill, the music that plays is a remix of Green Hill Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog.

  • Sound Test

Successfully complete the game. You do not need all the Chaos Emeralds. The 'Sound Test' option will appear just above 'Delete Game Data' in the options menu.

  • Unlock Knuckles, Cream and Amy

To unlock Knuckles, Cream and Amy you do not have to delete the game. You only have to defeat the Final Boss as either Sonic or Tails. Then revisit all of the Sunset Hill stages including the boss stage. For Amy complete all the stages for Toy Kindgom including the boss stage. And finally for Cream complete all the stages of Cyber Track including the boss stage. You do not have to have any Chaos Emeralds to do this. | Submitted by abi

Strategy Guide
Tails as partner

At the character selection screen, highlight Sonic. Next, highlight Tails and press Down. Then, highlight Knuckles and press L. Finally, highlight Amy and press R. Highlight Sonic and press A to select him. Tails will follow you during the game, but cannot be controlled.

Moon Zone

Collect all seven Emeralds for all characters, then successfully complete the game with Sonic to unlock the Moon Zone.

Hidden sound test mode songs

To get more than the 39 default songs in sound test mode, successfully complete The Moon Zone, extra mode, or unlock the Super Sonic Ending. Three additional songs will be available.

Easy rings for Chao Garden

Play the first level. Press Start + Select + A + B to reset the game. Go to the Chao Garden and you will have the rings that were collected, but reset at the start of the next act of the level.

Rings for Tiny Chao Garden

Go to time trial mode and play any level you are good at. Get lots of rings, then go to the Garden. The game will add the rings to your total.

Infinite tries in Casino special stage

Get the checkpoint thing immediately before the spring. Then, try the special stage. If you fail, there is an extra life to the right, directly above the swinging boat thing. You can get unlimited tries because every time you die the extra life returns.

After collecting the Chaos Emeralds, complete the game with all the characters. Complete Final Zone with Sonic again and you will turn into Super Sonic and go to a new stage. Tap buttons to escape his traps. Use your Head Bash on him eight times to defeat him. Be careful, as you will lose rings as you fight.
